Torchwood.

The secret organisation that has the huge car with flashing lights and Torchwood written on the side of it. The secret organisation that orders pizza under the name Torchwood

Casual reminder that Jack spent 1874 years buried beneath Cardiff.
1874 years.
Presuming that it takes him four minutes to be revived each time he dies of things which don’t require his entire body to re-grow itself (based on how long it took for him to revive after Suzie shot him), and that it takes six minutes for him to suffocate (brain death occurs roughly four minutes after loss of consciousness), he dies 52 595 times per year.
That means he died 98 563 030 times while buried underneath Cardiff.

People do NOT give this character enough credit. They look at him and they’re like “LOL he makes innuendos and fucks people” and think that’s the extent of his character. But he’s been through so much shit, and he has so much more depth than people give him credit for. He’s so fucking brave, and he’s one of my favorite characters of all time.

Oh my GOD, Owen.

It entertains me that their organization was not even remotely secret. I imagine the locals all rolling their eyes whenever the team runs past, because it’s like when your kids are playing spy games and they’re being ‘sneaky’ and you have to pretend you can’t see them.

Whenever something really weird happens you just wander down to the docks, position yourself in front of a hidden camera, and sigh loudly. “Oh my, I sure hope that freaky alien-looking thing doesn’t eat my family. Boy, I wish there were someone around who could take care of that for me.

And then you piss off and get lunch while they handle it, so you can avoid getting roofied.

And then you remember this little gem

“Excuse me… Have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car?”

*points*”Bloody Torchwood!”

This whole post is gold.

^^^ That is the most accurate depiction of Torchwood ever.

No, see, I don’t think people get it about Torchwood.
Everyone x’ed out has been killed. Some of them, multiple times.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND OUR ANGST NOW???
(Death just doesn’t take to Jack, I guess.)

Perfect eye roll is perfect.

By the way, I wonder if “Vera” is a sort of offhand nod to Whedon? Or is “call me Vera” a phrase that they have in the UK and not here?

Fingers crossed that it’s a Whedon reference.

Burn’s face though is the best thing about that scene

It is the best thing.

Burn in general is the best thing. But yes, his face in that scene is awesome.

“We live next door.”

The possessive hand!  All “This is mine” and adorable and petting!

UGH GARETH YOUR ACTING IS FLAWLESS.

Look at the way Ianto stops everything once he’s really registered Jack’s hand on him. He’s nodding, looking sympathetic and sad, and then suddenly he’s stopped, he’s wide-eyed and still and sort of surprised-looking, like he doesn’t know how to properly react because Jack’s never really done that before.

◢ Torchwood and Doctor Who consist of the same letters.

potter-equals-happiness:

bundrendarl:

…Why am I just now noticing this?

D O C T O R W H O

T O R C H W O O D

That’s because Torchwood was a codename for the first few episodes of Doctor Who, a ‘production ruse’. RTD thought it would be cool to use later.

“Yes,” Ianto deadpanned. “Because there is nothing more arousing than watching that white dot on the computer generated map of Cardiff going blip blip blip. My God, what a fetching looking dot. I think I need a cold drink.”
